Dear Readers,
when I started this online
magazine (ECOGIN), for which I've been working both as the publisher
and the editor-in-chief since 2001, I used to provide free e-mail
consultations. At that time I happened to receive such a big load of messages that,
besides experiencing an undue working pressure, I didn't often manage to answer
thoroughly and exhaustively enough as I would have liked to do. So I came to the conclusion that I should ask at least a small fee to select those
people who were really interested in receiving a
good-quality service.
Through
this service you can receive answers to your health questions in about 48/72
hours (it also depends on the way of payment: see below). PRONTOMED works as follows:
1)
you ask a question by E-mail ;
2)
afterwards I'll write you a message asking for a variable fee, either 15 or 20
Euros, according to the complexity of your question and/or my expected answer. I'll
give you payment instructions as well (either by credit card through PayPal
or by bank transfer);
3)
you will proceed to payment;
4)
sometimes I may need to ask you for further details
(symptoms, tests or exams done that you can describe or attach to your message etc.) so that
my answer can be more precise and "targeted"; Notice! This message
asking for clarifications will not be charged any further!
5)
you will receive the answer to your question.
This
service intends to
guarantee more
effectiveness and efficiency than
provided by "free" Internet sites, which
generally do not shine for giving exhaustive
and targeted advice. All the more so if you consider that some of those sites
receive profits from banners, links and ads that have never been present on
ECOGIN.
What
kind of questions would it be useful for you to ask?
Well,
if you consider that I cannot physically examine you, I wouldn't be able to answer properly a question of the
like: "I have these symptoms, please tell me what disease I have".
Anyway even in those instances I
would be able to recommend
you a proper diagnostic strategy
and "accompany" you steadily along the steps of such a strategy.
An
even greater potential is conveyed by answers to questions that don't strictly
require any medical examination, e.g.:
-
to
get further clarifications about
already-received diagnoses or already-done tests or examinations;
-
to
get advice about the use,
actions and effects of medications, contraceptives etc.;
-
to
get explanations about one's own body functions (menstrual cycle, fertile
periods etc.) or
about mechanisms involved in diseases,
syndromes or ailments;
-
to
get suggestions about the correct behaviour towards certain diseases, when
certain risk factors are present etc.
I
hope that PRONTOMED service may prove useful and suitable to people who
wisely believe more in a handy, direct, personally-tailored and cost-effective medical support, than in
a browse-it-yourself Web or encyclopaedia pages, which information is often hard
and risky to
interpret for the personal case.
Sincerely yours.
Dr. Roberto Rovida
